Coastal Walks

An ancient aboriginal dwelling on the North Sydney coast.

Bird of paradise flowers grow all over Sydney. I took this photo and didn't even notice the miniscule encounter that was going on before my eyes which you can see below. I love this digital camera!

View towards Sydney from The Gap, which is a cliff top park just south of Watsons Bay with beautiful views of Sydney’s downtown in one direction and the Pacific Ocean in the other, hundreds of feet below.

Bondi Beach, sparsely populated in the winter.

I took a coastal walk from Coogee beach up to Clovelly. When I got there, I was surprised to see a sign about the fish that could be found in the bay, since I didn't think there were many fish to see around Sydney. I met two people who had been snorkeling that day, and said to them, "Wow, you're brave to snorkel in this cold of water," and they replied, "Yea, crazy you mean." Despite the fact that it was a wee bit chilly, I still wanted to go out, and so fortunately one of Matt's diving friends, Christian, had a wetsuit and snorkeling gear and took me back to Clovelly so that we could see these fantastic fish.

On the rocks at the Coogee "baths," I watched a guy who was ocean kayaking in the inner coastal pools. Every time a wave came over the top of the rocks, he would fight against it, paddling as hard as he could.

I ventured out onto the rocks, and seeing lots of barnacles on them, I decided not to venture out too far. A group of Chinese tourists followed my lead and and this little grandpa ended up going out too far and got completely soaked by a huge wave that came over sooner than he expected. He and all his family laughed uproariously at this and took pictures.
