After we walked down many steps into the rainforest, to get back to the top, we took the Katoomba Scenic Railway. It is the steepest railway in the world (according to the humble Guinness Book of World Records), and originally a mining tramway. It was like taking a rollercoaster backwards! It’s maximum gradient is 52 degrees or 1 in 0.78 or 128%. Steep, man. The best part was that they played the Indiana Jones theme song while we went up.
