Cockatoos are all around Sydney and you can often see them walking along the grass by the beaches or throwing down branches on tourists head from trees in the botanic gardens.

See those things that look like strange fruits hanging from the trees? Those are large "grey-headed flying fox" bats. During the day, up to 9,000 of them can be seen sleeping in the trees in the Botanic Gardens.
